Rennes (in French Rennes) is the largest city of the West of France. It is the capital of the region Bretagne and of the Departement Ille et Vilaine. The city is located between the rivers Ille and Vilaine. Rennes is divided into 11 cantons. The name Rennes comes from the Gallic name "Riedones". In 1553 Henri II orderer the construction of the Parlement de Bretagne which remained the center of Political decisions in the Kingdom of Brittany until the French Revolution in 1790  |
